Rehanging the bells
Lifting the bells began with getting the largest of our bells back up the tower, the tenor starts the journey upwards.

The smaller cast iron headstock made getting the bell back in much easier than taking it out!
There was so little clearance for the bell and wooden headstock that the scrape marks on the beam above will always be there.
Final bell to go back in was the treble, after three months of silence we once again had an eight bell tower.
With the new slim, blue headstocks and before the wheels were reassembled there appeared to be a lot more space in the belfry than we had with the wooden ones.
The work completed and all eight bells back in.
Still not ready for ringing yet, clappers to fit, sanctus bell to hang, pulley boxes and ropes to measure and fit.
With all that completed the team from Whites then set all the clappers so that any odd struckness was corrected.
The test ring confirmed our initial thinking that the work was going to be a great success, easy and evenly struck the bells would be good for another 50 years of ringing.
